Capacity Building

Capacity Building

About

Employees are key determinants of an organization’s success and are often the “representative/ face” of the organization for stakeholders. Hence, maintaining a well-trained and qualified workforce is critical. From this perspective, for the Competition Commission of India (CCI), being a market regulator with overarching powers, the capacity building of employees is indispensable. To spearhead this function, CCI has a dedicated unit called the Capacity Building Division (CBD), which develops innovative approaches and strategies for capacity enhancement of employees and takes up programmes that help employees improve their performance and achieve overall organizational objectives.

The changing business environment in India and elsewhere as well as developments in competition literature/tools required for assessing anti-competitive conduct necessitate regular training of employees, especially in a multidisciplinary regulatory organization like CCI. This is achieved through capacity-building programmes such as trainings/workshops, etc. These programmes are conducted with the help of international experts from overseas multilateral agencies and competition authorities, as well as domestic experts and organizations specialising in the fields of law, economics, finance, etc.

What We Do

The division identifies the training needs of officers and employees, organizes relevant training programmes such as induction training, in-house trainings, outbound training, and trainings in collaboration with premier academic institutions, conducts capacity enhancement activities such as sponsorship programmes, peer-to peer sessions,  organizes lectures under the Distinguished Visitors Knowledge Sharing Series (DVKS) and the Special Lecture Series (SLS), and conducts other activities aimed towards building organizational capacity, developing leadership, and providing exposure to employees to prepare them for higher responsibilities.
