CCI is a relatively young regulator, and competition law and policy in India is at a nascent and developing phase; therefore, sending CCI officers for functional training as well as relevant degree/diploma courses in the field of competition law/economics/finance will improve the effectiveness of the officers as well as the ability of the Commission to discharge its functions. A Sponsorship Scheme under the Guidelines titled The Competition Commission of India (Revised) Guidelines for Sponsoring Officers for Training/Courses in the areas of Competition Law and Policy 2015 has been approved by CCI in order to facilitate Officers to undergo specific training or study courses in the areas of competition law, economics, or finance.

Every year, during October-November, CCI invites applications from all professional Officers of CCI and O/o DG, CCI for undergoing training/pursuing any course, subject to satisfying certain conditions prescribed under the guidelines. A Selection Committee headed by the Secretary and comprising Advisers is instituted to scrutinize the applications and present their recommendations before the Commission for their consideration and approval.
